The Freshest Pub Food on the East Side of ATL

April 9, 2012 By Kevin Ekmark

When it comes to pub food, most people do not always equate it to the word fresh.  On the east side of Atlanta, the City of Decatur is well known for its great taste in food and drink.  However, one pub seems to stand out from the rest when it comes to staying fresh.  The Corner Pub in Decatur, just a hop away from Avondale Estates, continues to make me a fan of their food and drink over and over again.

Shrimp and Grits from Corner Pub Decatur

If you know this area of town well, you know that the Dekalb Farmers Market is just down the road from The Corner Pub.  The farmers market is a place to find nearly type of food you could imagine and then some.  The Corner Pub frequently uses fresh produce straight from the Dekalb Farmers Market, especially when it comes to their daily specials.

I visited The Corner Pub on Easter Sunday for brunch, and was pleased with my options for the specials of the day; mainly, shrimp and grits (a staple in the South).  The spices and flavors of fresh shrimp were amazing.  The Jerk Chicken Philly is another favorite of my family’s.  My fiance has repeatedly ordered this sandwich, and I have enjoyed it at the pub and for leftovers as well.

Jerk Chicken PhillyThe Corner Pub also maintains a great beer selection as well.  It’s a great place to find local favorites like SweetWater and of course, their neighbor down the street, Wild Heaven Craft Beers.  As many Atlanta locals know, Decatur folks love their beer, and The Corner Pub satisfies their thirst.

If you make it to Decatur, plan on visiting The Corner Pub, where food is fresh and the cold brews pour.

I agree with your review and would like to add that the daily specials are always excellent and have never failed to delight! I recently enjoyed an incredibly light asparagus quiche with the most delicate and perfect homemade crust. Who knew you could find such fresh and delicious fare at a pub?

Our personal favorite is the catfish and collard greens plate. But, we also love everything else on the menu. 🙂
