Day Hiking Saint Mary’s Glacier: A Quick Guide to Colorado Fun

August 6, 2017 By Kevin Ekmark

Saint Mary's Glacier - Colorado

When you live in metro Denver, Colorado, fun is just a short drive, hike, or train ride away. Saint Mary's Glacier sits at just around 1 hour away from Denver, so I couldn't pass it up this weekend for a quick day hike. I've only lived in Colorado for a few weeks now, but the theme is pretty consistent; Life here is pretty good. Even the morning weather reporters say cheesy things like, "well it's another beautiful day, because well, it's Colorado of course!" Quick Facts About Saint … [Read more...]

Atlanta’s Newest Brewery: Monday Night Brewing

February 4, 2013 By Spencer

Get ready Atlanta, Monday nights just got a lot more fun. “Tie one on” and head over to the Westside to check out the spanking new Monday Night Brewery. In an old warehouse at the bottom of Trabert Avenue sit three gents making some killer brews. Monday Night Brewing is the brainchild of Jonathan Baker, Jeff Heck and Joel Iverson, who started making home-brews after a weekly bible study pre-2006. It took a while to get to this point, but when you walk around the space and listen to the guys … [Read more...]

Rico’s World Kitchen: Metro Atlanta’s Best Kept Secret

May 24, 2012 By Spencer

Rico's Fried Green Tomato Salad

For the past two years, Rico’s World Kitchen in downtown historic Buford, GA has been my best-kept secret. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t keep it hidden for too long. Chef and owner, Rico Cunnington, has been turning heads and turned this once four table restaurant into a shining light in the Buford and Metro Atlanta communities. Urbanspoon currently ranks Rico’s the number 11th best restaurant in all of Atlanta. That is no fluke. Rico’s World Kitchen rocks so hard I sometimes dream about … [Read more...]

Don’t Skip Over Stone Mountain Park

Stone Mountain Park - The Generals Carving

Sometimes the spots that are closest to us are the ones we take for granted.  Many people who live right next to big cities live so close that we never actually take time to visit cool places that may be considered typical tourist attractions.   Whether you are an Atlanta local or visiting from out of town, Stone Mountain Park is an awesome place to spend an inexpensive afternoon. When I headed into Stone Mountain Park this past weekend, I thought that the only thing to do was climb up the … [Read more...]

Planning Your Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in Atlanta

April 28, 2011 By Kevin Ekmark

Piedmont Park in Atlanta

We have all spent some amount of time at work or in a boring professor's lecture wondering what it would be like play plan the perfect day of hooky.  I can't tell you how often I sat back in my chair, wondering what I would do if I had just taken the day off.  A few weeks ago, I was finally able to do it. Well, the truth is, I wasn't playing hooky.  I had a Friday off in between leaving an old job and beginning a new one.  Yeah, I know, it really doesn't sound that crazy.  The point is that … [Read more...]
